Christmas lights countdown

Walsall is gearing up to bumper fun at Christmas, with a package of events and entertainment being planned by the Town Centre Management Partnership over the festive season.

Kicking things off will be the Christmas lights switch-on which will take place from 6.00pm on Thursday 22 November 2007.

Beacon radio, Walsall FC, Santa and the Mayor will be joining us for an action packed event which will include:

a market trading all day in Park Street
fun and entertainment in the town starting from 4.00pm
Santa accompanied by his real reindeer
street theatre and entertainment
a stunning contemporary Christmas tree
fantastic free prizes and goody bags for those present
a grand fireworks finale

Star of the show will be local girl Connie who shot to fame through the TV show Britain’s got talent and will be helping to switch on the town’s lights.

The market will also trade in Park Street every Thursday on the run up to Christmas and will be accompanied by various street theatre, entertainment and music to put people in the seasonal spirit.

We are also putting on events on selected Saturdays on the run up to Christmas and are reinforcing the message that the town is open to trade on Sundays.
