Listed below are street and surname indexes to some parts of the Walsall Council area for some of the censuses from 1841-1891. These census indexes can be searched, printed or saved.

The 1881 Census Surname Index for England and Wales is available on microfiche at Walsall Local History Centre and many other record offices for consultation in person.

A Surname Index for the 1891 Census is not presently available in any form. A street index for Walsall Metropolitan Borough is however available at Walsall Local History Centre for consultation in person.

The 1901 Census covering Walsall Metropolitan Borough will be available from 2nd January 2002 at Walsall Local History Centre on microfiche for consultation in person. Please ask for details.

Please note that we are unable to offer a research service for census records due to constraints on staff time. We are however able to supply photocopies by post from microfiche for specific individual addresses and dates, for 50p plus postage per sheet. You can also print copies in person at the Centre using our self-service digital reader-printers at the same price.
