Consumer advice and protection

National Consumer Week 17-22 November 2008

The Consumer Advice Team are hitting the road as part of National Consumer Week.

Consumer Advice Staff will be at the following venues during the week to answer any consumer queries or questions and provide various information about your consumer rights and responsibilities:

  • Saturday 15 November 2008 - 10am - 3pm - Ikea Store, Wednesbury
  • Wednesday 19 November 2008 - 10am - 3pm - Morrisons Supermarket, Bescot
  • Thursday 20 November 2008 - 10am - 3pm - Asda Supermarket, Darlaston
  • Friday 21 November 2008 - 10am - 3pm - Bloxwich Town Market.
  • Saturday 22 November 2008 - 10am - 3pm - Park Street, Walsall Town Centre (by Woolworths)

On Saturday 22 November 2008 we are pleased to be joined by Consumer Direct West Midlands and the Community Playbus who will be supporting the event.  There will be various activites taking place during the day for children and adults to take part in.

Consumer Direct is the government-funded telephone and online service offering information and advice on consumer issues.  Consumer Direct is funded by the Office of Fair Trading and delivered in partnership with Local Authority Trading Standards Service.

Consumer Direct provide clear, practical and impartial advice to help you sort out your problems and disagreements that you may be having with suppliers of goods or services.  The telephone number for Consumer Direct is a single national helpline number and is charged at no more than 4 pence per minute from a BT Landline, call charges from other landline or mobiles may vary.

What we do

Walsall Council Trading Standards operates a free consumer advice service for people who have encountered problems with items they buy or purchase.  The consumer advice service offer negotiations between businesses and consumers in order to reach an amicable resolution.

You can visit the office at the address below our opening hours are Monday - Thursday 8.45am - 5.15pm and Friday 8.45am - 4.45pm or alternatively either email us directly or you can contact Consumer Direct on the telephone number above.
